Mubadala World Championship Djokovic destroys Federer, Nadal crushed

Novak Djokovic destroyed Roger Federer 6-2 6-1 in the semi-finals of the Mubadala World Championship in Abu Dhabi.

The world number one took just 44 minutes to beat the rusty Swiss legend in the six-man hardcourt invitational event.

In sharp contrast to the end of last season when Federer finished the season with a 17-match win streak and the Serb struggled for fitness, it was Djokovic who was on top form.

After the opening four matches went with serve, the world number rattled off nine games in a row and will now meet David Ferrer in Saturday's final.

Djokovic, who needed three sets to beat Gael Monfils on Thursday, said: "It was the perfect start to the season. I played great."

Nadal, like Federer, was playing his first game on the surface after getting a bye to the last four and he was overwhelmed 6-3 6-2 by Spanish compatriot David Ferrer.

The world number five broke Nadal in his first two service games to race into a 4-0 lead and although the French Open champion broke back, Ferrer held to 30 to win the opening set 6-3.

It was a case of deja-vu in the second as again Ferrer roared into a 4-0 lead thanks to a double break and he duly completed the job to leave Nadal facing a third place play-off encounter with old adversary Federer.
