Portimonense: Hole punched with the degradation stripe ( Recent Form: D L L W W )
As champion of the Segunda League, Portimonense had a difficult entry in the height of Portuguese football. It lost four of the first five games and stayed seven games without a win in December and January. In the past two games, Vitor Oliveira's team once again showed its best side. Subtopper Rio Ave and Maritimo Funchal were convincingly defeated and in the cup both Braga and Benfica were held on a draw. Two weeks ago, Rio Ave left with a 4-1 loss from Portimão. The Brazilian midfielder Fabrício was the big man at Portimonense with three goals. This good line was extended to visit Maritimo in Madeira, when he scored twice more. Together with the Japanese Shoya Nakajima, Fabricio forms a dangerous attack line. They already accounted for eight and eleven goals respectively. Thanks to the goal drift of both attackers, Portimonense is, after the top-four, the most scoring team of Portugal. Because of the two handsome victories, Portimonense has temporarily distanced itself from the relegation zone. With 24 points from 21 matches, the team is in the middle of the pack, with a six point lead on Estoril, which is just below the mark. Portimonense will draw hope from the previous meeting with Benfica. On December 21, As Aguias were held at 2-2 in Lisbon, after coming back from a 2-0 deficit.

Benfica: Fifteen unbeaten matches ( Recent Form: W W W D W )
When we look at the results of Benfica in the competition for a second, there is hope for title prongongation again. Benfica was eliminated in both national cup competitions and the Champions League was a true hell tour (described by Jonas as' the biggest disappointment in his Benfic career). The results were also disappointing in the competition and in November a fifth title in a row seemed far away. However, Benfica is currently in the best shape of the three title candidates, despite being battled against fellow countryman Belenenses two weeks ago. In that match Benfica could have grabbed the provisional lead position, but it did not go beyond 1-1. Because the competition continues to lose, Benfica still participates in the top places. The team of Ruí Vitória has 50 points from 21 matches, exactly as many as arch rival Sporting. Porto has two points more and still half a make-up game against Estoril, which is against a 1-0 deficit is looked at. As the only Portuguese top team, Benfica did not strengthen itself on the transfer market. On the other hand, it said goodbye to some superfluous players such as Gabriel Barbosa, Lisandro Lopez and Filipe Augusto. The fanatical supporters of As Aguias expressed their dissatisfaction. They are still waiting with sorrow for the next million-euro purchase to Lisbon. Last summer, Benfica garnered nearly 100 million transfer revenues through the sale of, among others, Ederson Moraes, Nelson Semedo and Victor Nilsson-Lindelöf. This income is still not used to attract new stars. An extra midfielder had not been an unnecessary luxury for Ruí Vitória now that Filipe Augusto has been leased and Filip Krovinovic has been eliminated for the rest of the season with a torn cruciate ligament. Eduardo Salvio is also uncertain for the meeting with Portimonense. The Argentinian was replaced by precaution against Rio Ave, but did not suffer any serious injury.

THE BETTING VERDICT:
After all, I see a lot of value in a bet on BTTS. Portimonense is after the top-four the most scoring team of Portugal and Benfica keeps the nil. The top form of Jonas does not even need to be named. He scores practically every game and i hope he succeeds this Saturday again.
