[Holland Jupiler League] Go Ahead Eagles VS Emmen 10.2 [Copy Link]

Go Ahead Eagles: Defeats in Leeuwarden and Volendam ( Recent Form: D L W L L )
Go Ahead Eagles seems to have a selection that should be able to play with the best five, but in one way or another Leon Vlemmings and Van Staa have not managed to get the team to play football. Vlemmings had to leave the Eagle Shore after a series of disappointing results, but that did not immediately produce a positive effect. Van Staa has a lot of new mercenaries available, but they have not been able to raise the level for the time being. The victory over MVV seemed to turn the tide for a while, but in recent weeks the Eagles were forced to face the facts again. The away match against FC Volendam was somewhat unfortunate with 4-3 lost and last week the men of Van Staa with the shortest end in Leeuwarden against SC Cambuur. The start in that match against Cambuur will have caused frustrations for the supporters and the training staff. The visitors started extremely weak in the game and that resulted in a 2-0 deficit in no time. The defense of the Eagles did not get a grip on the experienced Martijn Barto and that offered the attacker the chance to make the net shine twice. After eighteen minutes, the game appeared to have been decided, but Go Ahead Eagles later fought back in the game. Bruno Andrade, one of the newcomers in Deventer, scored just after half-time, but it did not stop there. It was already the tenth defeat of the season for Go Ahead. Van Staa will be tinkering with his team this week and that is really the case, especially because of necessity. For example, Xandro Schenk is on the side with an injury and the experienced Sjoerd Overgoor will start on the bench because he is not completely fit. Levi Opdam had to deal with unpleasant family circumstances this week and that is why it is still questionable whether he can take action. On the basis of the last training, Hamid Zarbar, Rick Ketting and Bruno Andrade seem to be starting. For Andrade it is his first base place since coming to Deventer.

FC Emmen: Surprisingly tough ( Recent Form: D L W W W )
FC Emmen is working on a more than decent campaign. The team of trainer Dick Lukkien has elevated the solidity to an art and proves to be able to make it difficult for every opponent. This has resulted in figures that will ensure a satisfied feeling among the followers of the club from Drenthe. Only three clubs managed to get FC Emmen on their knees and that is a statistic that the club can be proud of. This puts FC Emmen in first place in the least number of defeats and does a lot better than Young Ajax, NEC and Telstar, clubs that have lost five times so far. FC Emmen is currently doing very well and recently won victories over champion candidates like NEC and Fortuna Sittard. The formation of Lukkien has to 'thank' the high number of draws that the club is only sixth. Conquering a ticket for the playoffs should not be a problem if the team continues to perform as it is now. In the past few weeks, FC Emmen had to deal with a heavy program, but the team was excellent at that. What is called, the away match against Fortuna Sittard was surprisingly won by 1-2 and last week FC Emmen managed to treat NEC to a defeat. Alexander Bannink opened the score after nine minutes of football and throughout the rest of the game the hosts successfully defended the tight margin. These were results that undoubtedly led to a positive mindset and as a result FC Emmen will travel to Deventer with a lot of confidence. The last performances were good and therefore Lukkien will not make any surprising changes. Yet his defense will contain a fresh force. Keziah Veendorp, who was still suspended for the meeting with NEC, returns to the heart of the defense. This results in a place on the bench for Tim Siekman. Furthermore, Lukkien does not have to take into account major injuries. This resulted last week in the eleven players on the bench, an unprecedented luxury for a team in the Jupiler League.

After all, FC Emmen is a tough team, but also has trouble overtaking matches. The visitors are seen as favorites by the bookmakers, but I think the Eagles will get a good chance to get at least one point. I play Double Chance Go Ahead Eagles to win or draw.
