[Holland Jupiler League] Jong PSV VS Helmond Sport 13.1 [Copy Link]

Young PSV: trip to America weakens Haar's team ( Recent Form: D W L W W )
Young PSV did not start the season too well, but within a few months the Eindhoven team managed to turn the tide and enter the top regions of the rankings. The last weeks before the winter break, Jong PSV turned more than decent and that has meant that the formation of trainer Dennis Haar is currently in fifth place, a position that will lead to the satisfaction of the trainer staff. Jong PSV won seven of the last ten games and that is just good. The gap with the top three is eight points at the moment and because of that Jong PSV will have to put down a good series to find the connection with Jong Ajax, Fortuna Sittard and NEC Nijmegen. As said before, there was little wrong with the form during the last weeks of 2017. De Brabanders lost an extremely unfortunate 2-3 with Fortuna Sittard, but then Haar's team recovered by grabbing seven points from three games. The last match of 2017 resulted in a tight victory at FC Dordrecht. The Eindhoveners had the matter reasonably under control in that game and even came on a 1-3 lead. Towards the end, it became even more exciting when FC Dordrecht produced the tying goal, but that turned out not to be enough for the hosts to avoid the loss. The big man on the side of Jong PSV again was Donyell Malen. The fast attacker, who came over from Arsenal at the start of the season, made his eighth goal in six games and that is rightly called a great achievement. His impressive form has ensured that he was included in the selection for the training camp in the United States by Phillip Cocu and therefore he will not be able to take action on Friday night. This also applies to Pablo Rosario, Sam Lammers, Ramon-Pascal Lundqvist, Yannick van Osch, Dante Rigo, Cody Gakpo, Kenneth Paal, Mauro Junior and Armando Obispo. She will therefore have to improvise a lot to come to his best eleven.

Helmond Sport: unbeaten three times in a row ( Recent Form: L L D D W )
Dark clouds appeared above the Lavans Stadium during the first weeks of the season. Helmond Sport performed poorly and the supporters expressed their dissatisfaction more than once due to the situation at the club. De Brabanders dropped to the bottom places of the rankings and it seems for the time being that this is not going to change. Helmond Sport won only three games and therefore it is not really a surprise that the formation of trainer Roy Hendriksen has sank to the nineteenth place. Young FC Utrecht performed even worse for the winter break and the gap with that team is six points. In the last few weeks before the winter break, some light may have provided the end of the tunnel. The men from Hendriksen gathered five points in three matches and that could be the start of something beautiful. On visiting NEC, Helmond Sport caught a surprising point and not much later, FC Eindhoven was 0-0 in the regional derby. In the last match of 2017, Helmond Sport produced one of the best matches to date. SC Cambuur was not involved and that offered the hosts the opportunity to take the win. Goals by Jason Bourdouxhe, Robert Braber and Jordy Thomassen turned out to be enough for the win. Helmond Sport has shown against NEC that it is able to take a point against an opponent from the top five, but it will be difficult to repeat this performance against Jong PSV. The selection of Helmond Sport got to contend with a flu wave and therefore some basic players will have to miss this match. Braber, Ron Janzen and Marijn van Heugten are ill and Furhgill Zeldenrust, Arne Naudts and Grad Damen were injured. In addition, Maikel Verkoelen and Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill have been sidelined for some time. Hendriksen has already indicated in his talk with the press that he will add some youth players to the match selection in order to be able to board a bus with a full group in Eindhoven.

After all, Young PSV may be a bit weakened, the fact is that the Eindhoveners have quite a few talents and that a large part of the race selection will seize this opportunity to show the qualities. I therefore see Haar's team win against this Helmond Sport and play Young PSV to win.
