[Italian Serie A] Napoli VS Verona 6.1 [Copy Link]

Napoli: focus is entirely on Serie A ( Recent Form: W W W W L )
Midnight Napoli was sealed by Atalanta Bergamo from the Coppa Italia and that is already the second cup tournament that the team of coach Maurizio Sarri had to leave. In the Champions League, the Italians collected only six points in the group of which Feyenoord also participated and that was not enough to secure the ticket for the next round. The performances did result in a duel with RB Leipzig in the Europa League, but the question is whether Napoli is waiting for that game. The visor is fully focused on the competition, especially in the first half of the season and Napoli will now do everything in its power to successfully defend the leading position. Juventus has now reduced the gap to a point and any misstep can thus be fatal. Last week, Napoli recorded its third win in a row by defeating Crotone in a difficult away game. The duel with the relegation candidate seemed to be extremely suitable in advance to show the potential, but on the day itself it quickly became clear that a big score was not really there. Marek Hamsik quickly put the 0-1 on the board, but that was it. Last Tuesday Atalanta Bergamo visited Naples for the quarter finals of the Coppa Italia and that match will want to forget the fans of the league again as soon as possible. The home team swallowed two goals and the late goal of Dries Mertens was not enough to prevent the elimination by the end of the game. The loss seems at first sight not really something of which the staff and the players will lie awake, but then there must be won from Hellas Verona. Sarri will probably come back with a team without real surprises. Arkadiusz Milik and Faouzi Ghoulam are still on the side because of serious injuries, but this has been the case for months now and their absence will not affect the performance. Mario Rui, who was suspended from Crotone last week, is available again.

Hellas Verona: dangles on a silk thread ( Recent Form: D L W L L )
The fact that Benevento will be able to be admired again in the Serie B after this season seems already certain, but just above the twentieth position a number of clubs compete for a ticket for the highest level. Teams like Hellas Verona, Crotone, SPAL and Genoa are in the race to prevent relegation and as a result the pressure will increase with the week. Hellas Verona, one of the promoted clubs in the Serie A, was one of the favorites for the start of the season to immediately go back to the second level and the first half of the season has already shown that preventing that step is a tough mission will be. The team of Fabio Pecchia is currently nineteenth and is already looking at a two-point gap with Crotone and SPAL. Genoa is in place 16 and the gap with that club has already grown to five points. The last weeks were actually not that bad for Hellas Verona. The Pecchia men lost 'only' three of the last six league matches and that is just a more than reasonable performance given the current ranking. The highlight of the last weeks was a well-deserved 3-0 victory over AC Milan. Last week, Hellas Verona even appeared to be on its way to a small stunt in the home game against Juventus when after seventy minutes there was a 1-1 score on the board, but by the end of the game, Paulo Dybala struck twice : 1-3. Pecchia and his team will now have to perform a small miracle to prevent a new defeat in Naples. In addition, players such as Mohamed Fares and Alessio Cerci are not completely fit and Martin Caceres is linked to a transition to Lazio. Pecchia will probably have to improvise to come to his best eleven and that is far from ideal for the team that swings more than two goals per game on average.

After all, with such thoughtful preparation, Napoli are expected to return to the circuit in this match. The home team's task is simple when their opponent is just Verona is badly damaged. The visitors are at the bottom of the rankings with just 13 points in the first leg. Not only that, the results show that Verona is becoming a favorite prey for Napoli when they both lost in the last four clashes between the two teams. Obviously, it would not be difficult to understand if Napoli would produce the kill rate in this match.
